Blizzard turned the page back in history this summer with the release of Classic World of Warcraft in lieu of a traditional expansion and John Staats, the first 3D level designer at Blizzard, recently published The World of Warcraft Diary.
John joined me on the latest episode of KakeBytes to talk about how he went from Dungeon Master and Quake mod map maker to dungeon designer, what working on World of Warcraft for ten years was like (including his book) and what he has worked on in the years since.
The WoW Diary are available in hardback via Amazon.com and available via PDF at thewowdiary.com.
You can listen to John play as Maurice “Mo” Dupinski (Pathfinder, Dead Suns Adventure Path) in the Roll for Combat podcast.
You can read the article on Cinelinx here.
You can follow John on Twitter @JohnStaats_WIR and follow his projects at whenitsready.com
