Episode 18 — From FIFA to Final Fantasy

The next guest on the show has had quite the journey in his game development career — literally.

Gus Martin hails from Brazil, but he started his career with EA Canada and has been working in Japan for the last four and a half years with Square Enix and currently with Capcom.

Gus has worked on various EA Sports titles, such as FIFA, NHL, and was part of the team that debuted UFC, and he speaks on having to work with the multitude of FIFA 14 dev kits during it’s development. The game launched on systems ranging from PlayStation 2 to 4, as well as Microsoft and Nintendo consoles.

In his time with Square Enix, Gus worked on Final Fantasy XV, Dragon Quest XI, Kingdom Hearts III before moving on to work with Capcom on the RE Engine for titles such as Resident Evil 2: Remastered and Devil May Cry 5.

Additionally, he shares his insight on how industry norms differ between the markets he has played a role in developing for.
